Finding Consensus and Solutions in Local Government
SHERMAN, TEXAS—The Austin College 2022 Public Administration Symposium titled “Real Solutions to Real Challenges: Finding Consensus in Local Government” is scheduled for November 3 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Wright Campus Center. The symposium sessions are free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Those wishing to attend should email Cary Wacker at cwacker@catalog.desireavenue.com by November 1.
Sherman Economic Development Corporation president Kent Sharp, Denison Development Alliance president Tony Kaai, and Anna Economic Development Corporation president Joey Grisham begin the symposium with a panel discussion titled “Excitement and Growing Pains on the 75 Corridor.” The session begins at 10 a.m., and Cary S. Wacker, director of Strategic Communications and Community Engagement, will moderate.
A second panel includes Coppell’s Deputy City Manager Traci Leach from the class of ’97 and Matt Yager ’03 from City of Plano in a discussion titled “Collaboration and Conflict.” The session begins at 11 a.m. and is moderated by Frank Rohmer, Austin College associate professor of political science.
Both panels will meet in Wright Campus Center, Room 254. David Morgan ’96, city manager of Georgetown, Texas, will deliver the keynote address at a luncheon beginning at noon in Wright Campus Center’s Mabee Hall. The annual event is sponsored by the Sumners Foundation of Dallas, as well as Austin College’s Political Science Department, Pre-Law Society, and Student Assembly.
